Not in My Backyard …Or Maybe!?!

The Washington Post published an interesting article recently about Americans' attitudes toward wind and solar projects. A Washington Post-University of Maryland poll found that three-quarters of all Americans would be comfortable living next to a solar farm, and roughly 70 percent would be okay with living next to a wind farm.  What’s even more surprising is that these numbers hold for both Democrats and Republicans.

But should these results be so surprising? A majority of Americans support the development of renewable energy.  This story is surprising because what immediately comes to mind when discussing where to build renewable projects are those vocal community members.  While this does exist, it may not be the overwhelming attitude.
